Man Extradited from Edmonton to Face Extortion and Murder Charges in Ontario

The Peel Regional Police have laid extortion and murder charges against a 22-year-old man in connection with two violent incidents in Brampton. The man, Safaldeep Singh, faces charges of extortion and conspiracy to commit murder.

Singh was arrested on June 23 during a traffic stop in Edmonton by local police. He was subsequently charged with firearms and drug-related offences. In a statement, a police official noted that Singh was found with a quantity of drugs and a loaded illegal firearm during his initial arrest.

The police investigation into Singh's alleged activities is linked to the Extortion Task Force, which targets an organized crime group known as For Brothers. The group was announced as a focus of the task force in May.

Safaldeep Singh, 22, faces extortion and conspiracy to commit murder charges and more as part of Peel Regional Police's investigation into an organized crime group known as For Brothers.

According to police, Singh was involved in two violent incidents in Brampton. The first incident occurred on April 21, when a business was targeted in a shooting. The suspect fled the scene in a silver Honda Civic. On May 6, a man was approached by an unknown individual who allegedly pointed a firearm at the victim, but the weapon malfunctioned.

In a statement, Peel Regional Police Deputy Chief Nick Milinovich noted that organized crime operates without regard for jurisdictional boundaries, and that the police response must be the same. He emphasized that extortion has a serious impact on victims and communities, and that the police are committed to addressing this harm through targeted enforcement and strong partnerships across the country.

Singh has been denied bail and is being held in custody. Anyone with information on these incidents is asked to contact investigators at 905-453-2121, ext. 8807.
