Former England rugby international James Haskell revealed that he was unaware of Chloe Madeley's famous television lineage when their relationship began.
During an early date at Madeley's family home, Haskell noticed a portrait of presenter Richard Madeley on the wall and mistakenly assumed the image reflected a personal interest, prompting an awkward comment about “kinky” preferences.
He later clarified that he learned the subject of the photograph was Madeley's father only after the couple spent their first night together.
The pair started dating in 2014, married in 2018, and announced their separation in 2023 after a decade together.
In a recent podcast appearance, Haskell described Madeley's parents as consistently kind and recounted the moment of misunderstanding that highlighted his unfamiliarity with their family background.
Madeley has spoken publicly about the marriage's final year, describing it as “dark and incredibly scary,” and noting that the decision to divorce, while painful, ultimately provided relief.
The former couple shares a daughter, Bodhi, whom they say remains their primary focus as they navigate co‑parenting with mutual respect.
Following the split, Haskell participated in a televised dating program, during which his mother offered candid commentary on the challenges that may have contributed to the marriage’s breakdown.
