Teacher Accused of Inappropriate Relations with Students Sought Better Grades through Alleged Blackmail Scheme, Court Documents Reveal

A 25-year-old high school teacher from Georgia has been arrested twice for allegedly having sexual relations with six students, with two of them under the age of 16.

The teacher, Maris Nichols, was a biology teacher and football program administrator at Alexander High School in Douglas County. She was indicted on 27 counts related to the allegations and is currently being held at the Douglas County Jail.

According to police, Nichols was blackmailed by students who discovered that she owned and operated an account on a subscription-based platform used by content creators. The students were able to get better grades from Nichols in exchange for keeping her secret.

Law enforcement officials obtained search warrants for Nichols' account on the platform, as well as for her social media accounts and mobile phone records. They also collected genetic evidence and fingerprints from two teenagers, as well as surveillance footage from a local golf course.

The warrants also requested evidence related to a "Jesus Loves You" necklace that Nichols was seen wearing in a video showing her having sex with a student. Nichols turned herself in to authorities last week after prosecutors said she repeatedly violated the conditions of her bond.

Nichols was initially placed on house arrest with electronic monitoring, but she was taken into custody after leaving her home without permission. She is currently being held at the Douglas County Jail pending further investigation and trial.
