Swedish Man Fatally Attacked at Copenhagen World Cup Watch Party, Sparking International Outrage

Copenhagen, Denmark - A tragic incident occurred during a World Cup viewing party at a crowded fan zone in Copenhagen, Denmark, resulting in the death of a 32-year-old Swedish police officer and father of two young daughters.

Christian Zedig, who was on vacation in Copenhagen, was watching the Norway vs. Ivory Coast match when a fist fight broke out. The off-duty officer tried to intervene and break up the fight, but was subjected to severe violence by a mob and was repeatedly punched, kicked, and stomped, including multiple blows to the head.

Zedig was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries but died on July 2. A 31-year-old man with a prior criminal record, including attempted murder, turned himself in to Danish police on July 3 and was arrested in connection with the assault.

A witness described the events leading up to the assault as follows: "A group of 7 or 8 young men arrived at the square during the match. It was completely clear that they had only come to cause trouble. They weren't there to watch football." The witness stated that the young men waved to the Norwegian and Swedish fans present when Ivory Coast equalized, but things escalated when the young men started throwing beer and assaulting the Scandinavians.

The situation quickly became violent, with one of the young men swinging a fist at the head of a man in a Swedish national team jersey, who immediately fell to the floor. Several other members of the gang then stomped him repeatedly on the head while he was lying on the ground.

A member of the European Parliament has expressed condolences to Zedig's family, stating that the incident is the direct consequence of mass immigration and failed integration. The official called for immediate border controls, mass deportations of criminals, and a complete overhaul of immigration policy.
