The sky was filled with the roar of aircraft on Friday as B-2 Bombers and other fighter aircraft flew over the Great American State Fair in DC.
Freedom 250 described the event as "a world-class exposition and modern-day World's Fair celebrating the people, traditions, innovations, and spirit that make America the greatest nation on Earth."
The Great American State Fair features more than 150 exhibits from all 56 states and territories, businesses, innovators, and civic organizations, showcasing the very best of America through state pavilions, industry displays, family-friendly attractions, movie screenings, musical performances, military ensembles, spectacular flyovers, daily cultural programming, and an iconic Ferris wheel on the National Mall.
Americans cheered as NASA F-5s and a B-2 Spirit roared over the Great American State Fair, with the US Air Force Thunderbirds flying in formation over the National Mall.
An F-35 Lightning also hovered over DC's Tidal Basin in front of the Jefferson Memorial, adding to the excitement of the event.
The National Mall closed early Friday afternoon shortly after the flyover due to heat-related reasons.
Temperatures soared into the triple digits with the heat index reaching 108 degrees, forcing organizers to prioritize the safety and well-being of guests, volunteers, performers, vendors, and staff.
Freedom 250 stated that conditions are expected to improve later in the afternoon, and the event will resume at 5:00 p.m. as preparations continue for this evening's festivities.
The National Mall is closing and The Great American State Fair is postponed until 5pm due to heat-related reasons, with everyone being asked to go to the exits.
It is miserably hot and humid today, with temperatures genuinely feeling like a sauna when outside.
