A 37‑year‑old resident of Irondequoit, New York, has been charged with attempting to provide material support and resources to a designated foreign terrorist organization.
The indictment alleges that the defendant transferred approximately $30,000 in cryptocurrency to the Palestinian Islamic Jihad group through a series of 80 separate transactions.
Federal prosecutors contend that she communicated with an individual affiliated with the organization, expressing support for violent actions and a desire to see continued conflict.
According to the charges, she wrote messages indicating excitement over the death of soldiers and a wish for the disappearance of Israel, as well as a personal aspiration to fight alongside militants if she were in Gaza.
Authorities note that the woman, a mother of two, previously lived in a typical three‑bedroom home valued at around $280,000 and was involved in community activities such as school parent‑teacher associations and bake sales.
In recent years, her online presence shifted dramatically, featuring photographs of herself wearing a hijab, posting anti‑Israeli commentary, and posing in a costume resembling a Hamas fighter while holding hand grenades.
She reportedly anticipated a lengthy prison term, acknowledging that her fundraising and online postings could result in multiple life sentences.
Currently held without bail in Buffalo, she faces a maximum penalty of 20 years in federal prison if convicted.
