A Muslim nurse in Texas was fired after posting a video on social media suggesting she would refuse to treat patients if they watched Fox News.
The nurse, whose name has not been released, posted a video on a popular social media platform showing her backing away from a patient's room with Fox News playing in the background.
In the caption, she stated that when she walks into a patient's room and Fox News is blasting, she would not treat that patient.
A social media account that exposes biased and discriminatory behavior on social media platforms posted the video, tagging the nurse's employer, a major health organization in Houston, Texas.
The employer, UTMB Health, responded to the post and announced that the nurse's access to work at any of their facilities had been suspended pending an investigation into her behavior.
Later that day, the nurse was terminated from her contract with UTMB Health after an investigation into the social media posts.
UTMB Health stated that they learned of the social media posts on Thursday afternoon and immediately launched an investigation, which led to the termination of the contract employee that evening.
The investigation found that the nurse's behavior was unacceptable and did not meet the standards of care expected of their employees.
